Introducing X1 Search Version 9.5 (released November 21, 2024)
We’re thrilled to announce the launch of X1 Search 9.5! This latest release delivers an array of exciting new features, critical improvements, and user-centric updates to elevate your search experience. We encourage all customers to upgrade and take full advantage of these enhancements.
This version brings key updates, including new Dropbox and PST file connectors, significant performance enhancements, and a host of usability improvements to streamline and enhance the X1 Search experience.
New Features
Added NEW Dropbox Connector
- Index any Dropbox account with the new X1 Search connector.
- Includes post-search actions such as opening, downloading, and printing indexed data.
- Enhanced capabilities include “Fast as You Type” searching, date range filters, and more.
Added PST Files Connector
- New PST Connector enables indexing of PST files on user devices.
- Allows user to index PST files if they have New Outlook installed, or if they do not have Outlook installed
It is important to note that New Outlook does not currently support PST files in any capacity. - Optionally can locate and automatically index PST files that are found by the Files scanner
- Organize and index data within emails, attachments, and calendar entries.
- Features “Fast as You Type” searching, date range filters, and more.
Architectural and Performance Enhancements
- Improved search performance and stability with ongoing updates to X1 Search’s indexing and querying capabilities.
- Updated Stellent library for enhanced performance, stability, and support for viewing over 600 file types.
Product Improvements and Bug Fixes
- Implemented anonymous usage statistics to enhance usability and stability.
- Added a clickable authentication expiration warning in the Search UI to notify users when authentication tokens for Teams, OneDrive, MS Online Archive, Gmail, or GDrive expire. This feature enables seamless reauthentication without affecting the index.
- Enhanced indexing capabilities for Public Folders using the Online Archive connector.
- Improved indexing capabilities for Shared and Delegated mailboxes with the Online Archive connector.
- Enhanced handling of Slack exhaustion and rate limits for Gmail and GDrive connectors.
- Introduced new registry settings to customize UI options, including the ability to hide post-search actions.
- Upgraded the Results Pane UI and layout for improved user interaction.
- Improved handling of external links when opened with the Edge previewer.
- Enhanced email indexing from the root MS Online Archive folder.
- Resolved inconsistencies in hit highlighting for Outlook email results.
- Various other minor improvements and bug fixes across the product.

Notes and Limitations
- Usage Data Disclaimer: This feature collects data solely on general interactions with the application (e.g., interactions with Data Sources or PSA systems) and does not capture personal files, content, or identifying information. Users can disable Usage Data collection at any time by navigating to the 'General' tab in the options menu and deselecting the corresponding setting.
- Dropbox Shared Folder Support: Currently, we do not support shared folders for Dropbox accounts. Support for shared folders will be included in a future release.
- Dropbox Business Account Support: Only the main business folder (designated by the account’s name) is supported for Dropbox Business accounts. Additional team folder support will be available in a future release.
- PST Images: Due to security and privacy concerns, images linked from external online resources within PST files are not displayed by default. A registry adjustment is available to enable image fetching. Contact Customer Support for more details.
- Password-Protected PSTs: We do not yet support handling password-protected PSTs with the new PST connector.
- Teams' Connector: Currently supports only business or school accounts. Configuration requires org admin consent. Visit Enabling M365 Data Access for more information. Full message threads may require multiple scans due to limitations with Microsoft servers.
- Default Browser Hyperlink Control: Please contact Customer Support to obtain the registry value and detailed instructions for configuring it.
- Outlook Compatibility: Full functionality is supported with the legacy Outlook interface only. Research is ongoing for support of the New Outlook interface.
- Help Documentation: Created Help documentation Manual Renewal Guide to support X1 Search license Manual Renewal process.
System Compatibility
- Full support for Windows 11.
- Post v9.5, X1 Search does not support 32-bit operating systems.
- The minimum .NET Framework required is version 4.6.2.
